The NN Marathon Rotterdam app allows participants, spectators, friends and family to access the latest news about the event.
The unique GPS and RFID tracking application enables users to follow participants during the race. After the event, immediate results will be available and, within 24 hours, the personal video and photos can be accessed.
More information
During initialization of the app, the “event tracker” screen will open. On this screen, you can link the runner’s unique start number to the mobile device.
You can search by name or by start number.
Spectators or people at home can opt to “skip” this step; the app will be passive and not register a GPS signal.
After connection to the mobile device, you can be followed. A green light will flash to indicate a GPS connection and to confirm that the app is ready for use.
GPS tracking begins the moment the race starts, and it ends at the finish line. Before the start of the event, you can turn the tracker on and off in the Option menu.
If you are a spectator or want to follow someone from the comfort of your home, you can select “skip”. You can follow a maximum of five participants via the “tracker” tab. You can add or delete participants; you can also add yourself to the tracker. Tracker allows you to follow someone through the race time predictor, which is calculated through the RFID chip registrations. You will see the exact chip registration and running time calculator within seconds of passing registration points. You will also see the estimated
race time prediction.
If you don’t possess a smartphone the RFID registration chip attached to the start number or handle bar number will be used to track you or your friends.
Up-to-date routes
In addition to live tracking, the app contains up-to-date routes. You can download routes, in the event you cycle a wrong way or wish to explore the running route in advance.
Event content, scores, and media
In addition to the unique tracker function, the app contains up-to-date information such as the event programme, where to park, public transportation, and walking routes for spectators.
The app also contains the latest updates under the Information and Twitter tabs. The personal videos and photos are connected to the app so you can view them on the mobile device.
Battery usage
Running the GPS will require more battery power and will drain your battery quickly.
